Patient Safety Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Director of Patient Safety to join our team at Memorial Hermann Health System.
Key Responsibilities- Execute and integrate enterprise-wide patient safety programs.
- Identify patient safety improvement opportunities through evidence-based clinical practices and statistical analysis.
- Oversee and manage patient safety data collection, aggregation, and dissemination across the enterprise.
- Establish and monitor patient safety measures in conjunction with hospital leadership and regional directors.
- Lead and promote a culture of patient safety and high reliability practices across the enterprise.
- Design and implement patient safety alerts, prompts, and tools across the organization.
- Guide and support regional and local directors in daily patient safety operations and develop systems for optimal knowledge transfer and efficiency.
- Refine and improve enterprise-wide processes to meet anticipated needs and requirements.
- Direct short-term and long-term patient safety robust process improvement projects to continuously improve the patient safety program.
- Direct communication and collaboration between stakeholders in patient safety strategies.
- Provide oversight in the use of data to drive decisions, plan, develop, and implement patient safety improvement strategies.
- Establish education on patient safety principles for physicians, managers, and staff.
- Manage the day-to-day enterprise patient safety operational budget.
- Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors and adhere to Memorial Hermann policies and procedures.
- Promote individual professional growth and development and support department-based goals.
- Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.
- Master's Degree in healthcare or business-related field/discipline.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) required.
- Five years' leadership experience and five years' experience in patient safety programs required.
- Three years' experience in robust process improvement methodologies and statistical analysis preferred.
- Experience in Regulatory Compliance activities (TJC, CMS, and TDSHS) preferred.
- Self-motivated, proven communication skills, and ability to manage up.
- Background in business planning and targeted outcomes.
- Knowledge in event reporting systems, platform enhancement, and data analysis optimization.
- Demonstrated effective working relationships with Executives, Physicians, Directors, and staff.
- Ability to serve as liaison to external regulatory and sanctioned reporting agencies.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice guidelines for clinical care and patient safety.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Healthcare professionals at all levels.
