Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician Lead to join our team at Sutter Health. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for coordinating the overall operation of the pharmacy technicians, including staffing and work assignments. You will serve as a liaison between the department and staff, Information Systems, physicians, patients, family, and other site staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between the department and staff, Information Systems, physicians, patients, family, and other site staff.
  • Perform pharmaceutical procedures for medication preparation and distribution that ensures safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy.
  • Exercise sound judgment and developed clinical skills to provide pharmaceutical support to the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety.
  • May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or teaching duties.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or met Board of Pharmacy requirements to obtain registration.
  • Certification and licensure as a Registered Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Certified Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Intern.
  • 4 years of recent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations, and laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures.
  • Ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping of medications.
  • Basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards, including The Joint Commission, Title XXII, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), related pharmaceutical technology, EHR, and EPIC.
Working Conditions

This position may regularly work, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer drug(s) identified as hazardous, or potentially hazardous, by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) for purposes of USP 800.

Pay Range is $40.82 to $51.01 / hour.

This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.

Compensation takes into account several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, and certifications, department equity, training, and organizational needs.

Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
