We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Preferred Primary Care Physicians, Inc. This is a full-time position responsible for assisting physicians and nurses with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Escort patients to and from exam or treatment rooms as needed.
- Record all patient data prior to the physician or nurse seeing the patient, including vital signs, height and weight, allergies, medications, chief complaint, and reason for visit.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as directed by the physician.
- Answer and return patient phone calls as directed, and contact pharmacies for prescriptions or answer patient telephone calls for referrals.
- Obtain all necessary patient record information, lab data, diagnostics, consults, and other required information for assessment of the patient's medical status.
- Assist with exams and procedures as requested, and assist with scheduling tests, procedures, or appointments to follow-up on test results.
- Prepare, maintain, and stock exam and treatment rooms, and order supplies as needed.
- Obtain new patient information and any test results, and assist with administrative duties such as typing, faxing, reception duties, etc.
- Process instruments and equipment as needed, and inform the physician of patient reschedule or no-shows.
- Assist with delegated patient education activities, including distributing educational literature, and maintain the strictest confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the physician, nurse, or office manager.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or GED is required, and a graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant is preferred.
- Six (6) months of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting is preferred, but open to new graduate applicants.
