Job Title: OSP Engineer III

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed outside plant facility engineering tasks, including estimating, analyzing, designing, planning, budget tracking, and preparing engineering plans, drawings, and reports.
  • Prepare loop loss design for load and repeater electronics, plan and design field-mounted switch serving areas, and perform pole, conduit, and buried facility design measurements to support company and industry OSP design standards and economic feasibility studies.
  • Develop and track job budgets, conduct periodic job inspections, and ensure quality control.
  • Collect field data, prepare and organize permit packages, maintain complex files, and process departmental documents requiring specific knowledge of functional operations.
  • Interface with multiple groups and collaborate on intra- and inter-state designs for implementation.

Requirements:

  • Ability to identify existing voice/data plant, electric, and other utilities on site plans and in the field.
  • Ability to indicate existing voice/data plant location and relocate facilities, and knowledge of obtaining right of ways and easements where required.
  • Experience managing other OSP Engineers and reviewing/correcting their projects.
  • Expert knowledge of COE/OSP principles, work order procedures, voice/data industry standards, PC applications, and COE/OSP record and/or computer-aided drafting systems.
  • Must have own tools, such as a measuring wheel, height stock, pull finder, laptop, etc.
  • Experience with local networks and ability to perform quality control on engineering work for other team members.
  • Understanding of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) for engineering requirements.
