Job Summary

This Nursing Assistant I role provides direct and indirect patient care in a hospital, clinic, or home healthcare setting. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician, assisting with routine examinations and procedures, and providing care and treatments to patients as outlined in their plan of care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist healthcare providers with examinations and procedures, and procure equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Provide informal support therapy to patients and families, and facilitate age-appropriate play for children.
  • Collect and document patient information, and promptly report significant changes in patient condition to a registered nurse or physician.
  • Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
  • Provide care and treatments to patients, including vital sign measurement, specimen collection, and wound care.
  • Provide direct personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Perform indirect care tasks, including cleaning, restocking supplies, and transporting patients and supplies.
  • Reinforce teaching given to patients by healthcare providers, and document patient understanding of instructions.
Requirements
  • Must be listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Prefer six months of nursing assistant experience.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English language, and able to develop basic computer skills.
