As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, you will perform radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to produce high-quality images of the body.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care.
- Exhibit exceptional communication skills to explain procedures to patients, reducing anxieties and obtaining patient cooperation.
- Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimal views of specified body areas, as requested by physicians.
- Determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, and the degree of penetration required.
- Operate imaging equipment to produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
- Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
- Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians, ensuring proper identification and quality control.
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
- Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
- Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
- Orient new hires and train students, ensuring a smooth transition into the role.
- Fulfill supervisory responsibilities, as needed, in the absence of the Supervising Radiology Technologist.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in two Specialties (CT, and/or Mammography) OR one year of experience in each Specialty with an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification in each Specialty, OR 1 year of experience in one Specialty with an ARRT in that Specialty and two years of experience in a second Specialty.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California)
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California)
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - Mammography Certificate (California)
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California)
- Basic Life Support
- Ability to perform all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties on patients of all ages, as determined by the employer.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information to individuals and groups with varying knowledge of Radiology services.
- Willingness to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
