About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Engines business unit, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of our liquid rocket engines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in system design and development at all stages of the development lifecycle, from requirements capture to delivery.
  • Develop, manage, and allocate requirements and interfaces to ensure accurate linking.
  • Lead systems engineering activities in accordance with system engineering standards and practices.
  • Manage, organize, and facilitate gated reviews to ensure project progress.
  • Develop and mature Concept of Operations documents to ensure system safety.
  • Coordinate consistent System Safety products for our engines, ensuring no gaps exist in the analysis performed by subsystem engineers.
  • Review verification records to ensure the appropriate rigor and ensure all aspects of the system are working to the correct configuration.
  • Participate in specialty engineering integration, analysis, and verification to ensure system operability, reliability, maintainability, and supportability.
  • Act as the negotiator between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests to ensure the system as a whole is optimized.
  • Work with launch vehicle customers and test sites to create interface definition and design specification documents from engineering documentation.
  • Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to stakeholders.
  • Track, evaluate, and report on system metrics to ensure project success.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field.
  • 8+ years of system development/integration experience working with complex mechanical systems, 5+ years of experience working with liquid rocket engines.
  • Knowledge of current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologies in a safety-critical environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in teams, demonstrated execution and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, DNG, Jama, or similar.
  • Experience with Atlassian collaboration tools Jira and Confluence.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in reliability, maintainability, and supportability analysis and execution.
  • System Safety analysis experience, including Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Functional Hazard Analysis.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Demonstrated configuration management experience.
  • Experience with failure investigations.
  • Experience supporting proposals.
