Custodial Operations Manager

Work Hours:
6 AM - 2:30 PM
Status:
Overtime eligible, MPEA Bargaining Unit
Compensation:
$16.25 to $17.85 per hour, plus an additional $1.10 per hour based on experience.
Benefits:

Monday through Friday, with potential changes during school breaks and summer work schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good health and sufficient physical strength for assigned tasks.
- Ability to read basic operating instructions and write brief reports.

- Capacity to supervise assigned personnel fairly and equitably.
- Willingness to adhere to proper attire and grooming standards as determined by school administration.
- Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
JOB GOAL:
To ensure a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient environment for students to learn, play, and develop.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Head Custodian will primarily oversee custodial operations at the school, dedicating approximately 80% of their time to maintenance tasks and 20% to coordination duties.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising all custodial staff to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment.
- Ensuring that custodial and maintenance tasks are completed to high standards.
- Recommending work assignments and schedules for custodial staff to the building principal.
- Assisting in evaluating custodial staff performance.
- Managing snow removal and responding to emergency calls related to school operations.
- Overseeing the safe operation of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems, including developing maintenance schedules.
- Conducting in-service training for custodial staff.
- Ordering and maintaining inventory of necessary supplies for school operations.
- Coordinating the receipt of supplies and equipment.
- Regularly maintaining motors and mechanical equipment.
- Implementing a program for ongoing maintenance, upkeep, and repairs.
- Conducting inspections of electrical installations to ensure safety.
- Providing temporary assistance when regular staff are absent.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by school administration.
