Job Summary

This part-time customer services position plays a vital role in delivering library services by assisting patrons in their use of library spaces and services. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong ability to work independently, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Library Service Desk Operations
    • Staff library service desks, opening and closing library spaces as assigned.
    • Greets patrons, helping and directing them to requested service points within the facility and to other departments within the College.
  • Patron Support
    • Access borrower records to check library materials in and out, renew items, and update account information as needed.
    • Shelves library materials and preserves the physical appearance and order of collections through shelving, shelf reading, and shifting.
    • Guides patrons in using computers, copiers, equipment, and printers.
    • Collects and logs library charges when appropriate, making change for cash transactions.
    • Inspects items for damage and notifies a supervisor if needed.
    • Ensures users receive excellent customer service.
    • Maintains confidentiality of user information.
  • Administrative Support
    • Contributes to work in other library functional areas as needed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education
    • High School Diploma
  • Experience
    • Previous library or computer lab experience preferred
Working Conditions

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
