Job Title: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Small Animal Surgery

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced veterinary surgeon to join our faculty at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. As a member of our clinical sciences department, you will play a key role in educating and training the next generation of veterinarians and comparative biomedical scientists.

Job Responsibilities

As a veterinary surgeon faculty member, you will be responsible for:

  • Teaching and mentoring veterinary students, interns, and residents in small animal surgery
  • Conducting research in small animal surgery, with a focus on advancing the field and improving patient outcomes
  • Providing clinical care to patients in our veterinary hospital, with a focus on small animal surgery
  • Participating in departmental and university service, including committee work and community engagement
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • A DVM (or equivalent degree) and eligibility for veterinary licensure in North Carolina
  • Experience in small animal surgery, with a focus on soft tissue and oncologic surgery or orthopedic surgery
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere
  • Aptitude for and desire to teach and mentor veterinary students, interns, and residents
Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates who are board-certified by the ACVS (or ECVS) and have a record of successful independent research. However, we also encourage and support applications from early-career candidates and experienced colleagues looking to shift from the private sector to academia.
