Overview:
The Clinical Decision Unit is a 20-bed, single-room unit located on the first floor of the Kelemen building. We are a secure unit that requires a badge for entry or a doorbell to be let in.
The Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) is a multidisciplinary team that provides observation and care to patients. Our team members collaborate with patients to provide the best possible care and facilitate discharge to home or other facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and mobility.
- Perform technical duties as directed by a Registered Nurse, such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point-of-care testing, EKGs, and Foley catheter care.
- Identify and communicate changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse and respond accordingly.
- Reinforce education of patients and families on individual care needs and safety issues.
- Participate in Cooper patient satisfaction initiatives and goals.
- Assist in admission, transfers, and discharges of patients to and from the unit.
Requirements:
- 0-2 years of experience preferred.
- High School/GED required.
- Successful completion of an unlicensed healthcare provider/technician program.
- Completed at least one fundamental nursing course in an accredited RN program.
- AHA Basic Life Support certification required.
Special Requirements:
Full-time nights, 36 hours a week.
