Maintenance Lead Job Description

Talascend is seeking a skilled Maintenance Lead to join our team at a leading automotive manufacturer in Warren, MI.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Lead will oversee skilled trades employees to achieve maintenance department objectives in a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment. The selected candidate will coordinate safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale initiatives, driving throughput improvements and coordinating professional maintenance and breakdown maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Lead and direct skilled trades employees to achieve maintenance objectives and improve overall equipment efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge of maintenance, time-based maintenance, condition-based maintenance, and dynamic maintenance.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), mean time between failure (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and equipment condition to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members on World Class Manufacturing techniques for problem-solving and corrective action implementation.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma and GE certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial automation experience with project management experience.
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required.
  • Excellent organization, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting problem-solving experience.
  • Goal-oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams.
  • Ability to coach/mentor/develop skilled trade employees.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
