Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Oncology ICU team at Medical City Dallas. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, age-specific care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in the Oncology ICU.
  • Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual patients.
  • Use therapeutic communication in daily practice to promote a supportive environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect, and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion, and culture.
  • Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver and participate in Cardiovascular Department specific initiatives and process improvement.
  • Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistants, nurse technicians, student nurses, and/or nurse interns.
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Requirements
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider.
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license.
  • Minimum 1 year experience required, with experience in high acuity ICU medical/surgical patients preferred.
  • Level 2 Competencies: Graft vs Host disease identification and management, Management of Cellular Therapy Complications, Tumor Lysis Syndrome Identification/Oncologic, Infection prevention - neutropenic patients, Administration of blood products, Chemotherapy/Biotherapy administration and management (Certification), Disease knowledge (leukemias, lymphomas, general blood dyscrasias).
