Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to join our team at Smithfield Foods. This role is responsible for the effective execution of all maintenance work control processes, including managing work priority, developing job plans, and assigning work control plans to supervisors for execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Develop and maintain planned and predictive maintenance procedures and routes.
  • Prioritize all planned work orders and ensure the availability of necessary materials and tools.
  • Train maintenance personnel in proper maintenance reporting procedures and the use of CMMS software.
  • Review completed work orders for completeness and accuracy, and update machinery history data in the CMMS system.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of written process safety information and the point of use library.
  • Manage the Management of Change Program, including tracking change submittals and approvals.
  • Participate in compliance audits for PSM and assist in the performance of workplace hazard assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the supervision of day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance, strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and working knowledge of basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
  • Project management software experience and knowledge of the CMMS system, preferred.

Work Environment

The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
