Geotechnical Engineer Job Description

At Metric Geo, we are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Houston, TX.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated Geotechnical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to handle challenging design and construction administration projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical engineering, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform geotechnical evaluations, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Conduct subsurface investigations and field monitoring.
  • Provide engineering services for transportation projects.
  • Collaborate with Professional Engineers on project management.
  • Develop project scopes and prepare specifications and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate field investigations and laboratory testing.
  • Conduct geotechnical calculations and analyses.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports and supporting engineering calculations.
  • Develop geotechnical recommendations for engineering designs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field.
  • Texas P.E. registration or the ability to obtain it within 12 months.
  • 5+ years of relevant geotechnical experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and gINT.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical engineering software (e.g., GeoStudio, Slide, Shaft, Apile, Lpile, Group, Settle 3, Plaxis).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience in marine, waterfront, or coastal projects is preferred.
