Transportation Specialist

United Community Action Partnership, Inc. is seeking a skilled Transportation Specialist to provide safe and reliable transportation services to residents in our service area. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating a passenger bus and ensuring the well-being of our passengers.
Responsibilities- Transport passengers safely and efficiently, adhering to daily schedules and dispatch ride assignments.
- Make sound decisions based on traffic and road conditions, as well as bus operations.
- Select booked trips according to times and locations, ensuring optimal route efficiency.
- Collaborate with staff to set up routes and schedule special events, promoting a seamless transportation experience.
- Operate the bus in a safe manner, following driver policies and procedures, as well as MnDOT, Agency, and Program guidelines.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip bus inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Provide positive public relations and program awareness, promoting a professional image of our organization.
- Inform passengers of policies and procedures, collect and submit passenger fees as directed, and treat passengers with respect and professionalism.
- Support and model United's Behavioral Competencies, upholding our organization's values and standards.
- Class C or higher commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
- One (1) year of previous related experience.
- Knowledge of road use, laws, and regulations.
- Ability to relate in a courteous and professional manner.
- Demonstrated effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to use two-way radio and tablets to maintain communication.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain passenger bus and wheelchair lift in all conditions.
- Ability to read maps.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.
- Reliable, regular attendance.
- Must be able to pass DOT physical and alcohol/drug testing requirements.
- Must have satisfactory completion of background check.
