GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the Manager and Supervisor of Environmental Services, the Building Attendant is responsible for performing comprehensive cleaning and sanitation tasks. This includes maintaining restrooms, floors, carpets, glass surfaces, and managing waste and recycling.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and mopping of various surfaces.
- Utilize specialized equipment for cleaning, such as vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and carpet shampooers.
- Maintain cleanliness in restrooms and ensure supplies are adequately stocked.
- Collect and dispose of waste and recyclable materials efficiently.
- Restock Environmental Services materials and supplies as necessary throughout the facility.
- Perform wall, door, and fixture cleaning as required.
- Ensure elevator tracks are kept clean.
- Exhibit friendly and professional customer service at all times.
- Address issues promptly to maintain a clean and safe environment, supporting visitor satisfaction.
- Embrace and apply the values of the organization to foster a culture of inclusivity.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of one year of cleaning experience in settings such as museums, offices, hospitals, or hotels.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate results.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Calm and decisive in urgent situations.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
- Occasional on-call availability may be required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and remote work technologies.
- Ability to foster professional and productive interactions with colleagues.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires frequent light work and occasional heavy work, including the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 lbs. The role involves extended periods of walking, standing, and using cleaning equipment. Visual acuity is necessary for safe operation of cleaning tools. Effective communication is essential for exchanging information in various formats.
