Job Summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is seeking a highly skilled ESL/DL Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in helping refugee clients achieve their digital literacy and English proficiency goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Design and deliver ESL and ESL-Digital Literacy classes, including conducting activities and lessons based on established teaching methodologies.
  • Classroom Management: Teach all classes according to an approved course syllabus, display excellent classroom management, and maintain standardized guidelines.
  • Student Support: Maximize students' speaking time through oral tests and presentations, keep accurate records of student performance, and participate in team meetings.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in ESL and digital literacy instruction.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a non-profit or government setting, working with immigrants or refugees with limited English proficiency, and previous experience teaching ESL
