About the Role

Xcel Energy is seeking a highly skilled Control Specialist to join our team in Denver, CO. As a Control Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct operators to start, stop, and adjust equipment as necessary.
  • Start, stop, and control various power plant systems, including fans, pumps, regulators, and more.
  • Monitor and control plant systems, directing operators as needed to maintain safe conditions and maximize load.
  • Take corrective action to address abnormal conditions and ensure compliance with plant permit requirements and governmental regulations.
  • Train operators and new controls employees in job duties and responsibilities.
  • May be assigned to work in lower operator classification on a rotating basis.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must work rotating shifts.
  • Must respond to overtime and callouts.
  • Must commit to working safely and adhere to Company safety rules.
  • Must have Control Board Operator experience, preferably on Factory talk, and completed a control operator/specialist apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience operating a large, combined cycle power/coal plant or equivalent.
