Role Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement telematics product features utilizing Java/J2EE and related database technologies.
  • Collaborate effectively with product management teams to convert telematics feature specifications into high-quality deliverables, serving as a key technical contributor in product development initiatives.
  • Develop both service-side and client-side code along with database scripts capable of handling high-volume transactions.
  • Produce clean, well-structured, and unit-tested code as necessary.
  • Proactively analyze and resolve production issues, designing and implementing solutions to stabilize new products.
  • Monitor and report on production issues and ticket trends, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Evaluate existing technologies and propose enhancements and improvements.
  • Manage production issue triage, tracking, troubleshooting, ticket creation, and vendor follow-up.
  • Engage with relevant internal and external stakeholders to address customer inquiries and devise resolution strategies for incoming issues.
  • Identify root causes of technical problems in production and document root cause analyses. Facilitate recurring problem management meetings with stakeholders, conducting trend analysis and strategic resolutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the current production system, best practices, tools, and techniques, implementing them judiciously.
  • Recognize issues and risks related to the Issue/Incident Management program and escalate as necessary.
  • Collaborate with project teams on new product development, providing insights based on previous technical challenges.

Compensation: $100,000 to $140,000 per year

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in software development and design with Java, J2EE, and database technologies, including at least 2 years in a similar role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of recent experience with Java and J2EE technologies.
  • Familiarity with J2EE technologies such as Spring framework, iBatis/MyBatis or similar ORM frameworks, REST/SOAP Web Services, Java design patterns, MVC, JMS, and Servlets.
  • Hands-on experience with databases like Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL, with the ability to write complex SQL queries and perform analysis and tuning.
  • Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) principles.
  • Experience deploying applications on J2EE Web/Application servers such as JBoss, WebLogic, and Tomcat.
  • Background in production incident and issue management with strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working on complex technical projects in a multi-vendor environment.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with various stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Adaptable to shifting between development and support roles.
  • Strong teamwork skills and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining composure.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of SOA versus microservices and their appropriate applications.
  • Familiarity with connected car architecture, including systems integration and in-vehicle services/functions for effective troubleshooting.
  • Experience in writing and maintaining functional and technical design documents using UML or EA.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Jenkins, JIRA, Eclipse, Git, Bitbucket, and Unix.
  • Understanding of front-end technologies for web and mobile applications.
  • Knowledge of SSL/TLS certificate technologies.
  • Good understanding of networking protocols is a plus.
