Role Overview

Design and implement telematics product functionalities utilizing Java/J2EE and database technologies. Collaborate effectively with product management teams to convert telematics feature specifications into high-quality, timely deliverables as a proactive technical contributor in telematics product development. Develop both service-side and client-side code along with database scripts capable of handling high-volume transactions. Ensure the production of clean, unit-tested, and refactored code as necessary. Proactively analyze and resolve any production issues, designing and implementing solutions to rectify reported defects and stabilize new products in production. Assess and report on production issues and ticket trends, providing actionable recommendations. Evaluate existing technologies and devise strategies for enhancement and expansion. Manage production issue triage, tracking, troubleshooting, ticket creation and maintenance, ticket assignments, and vendor follow-up. Engage with relevant internal and external stakeholders to address customer inquiries and formulate resolution strategies for incoming issues. Identify root causes of technical challenges in production and out-of-the-box failures, producing root cause analysis documentation. Facilitate root cause analysis, problem management, and recurring problem management meetings with management stakeholders, including trend analysis and strategic resolutions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge and technical expertise regarding current production systems, best practices, tools, and techniques, implementing them judiciously. Recognize issues and risks related to the Issue/Incident Management program and take necessary escalation actions. Collaborate with project teams on new product development, providing insights from technical challenges encountered in previous products.

Compensation: $100,000/yr to $140,000/yr

Required Qualifications

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field. Over 7 years of experience in software development and design with Java, J2EE, and database technologies, including a minimum of 2 years in a comparable role interfacing with management.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

At least 4 years of recent experience with Java and J2EE technologies. Familiarity with J2EE technologies such as Spring framework, iBatis/MyBatis or similar ORM frameworks, REST/SOAP Web Services, Java design patterns, MVC, JMS, and Servlets. Practical experience with databases like Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL, including the ability to write complex DB queries and perform SQL analysis and tuning. Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) principles. Proficient in deploying applications on J2EE Web/Application servers such as JBoss, WebLogic, and Tomcat. Experience in production incident and issue management with a solid background in problem-solving and root cause analysis. Proven experience working on complex technical projects within a multi-vendor project environment. Skilled in coordinating with various stakeholders to achieve project objectives. Self-motivated in completing tasks with minimal supervision. Adaptable in switching between development and application support roles. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Capable of multitasking and maintaining composure under pressure.

PREFERRED SKILLS: Knowledge of SOA versus microservices and their appropriate applications is advantageous. Familiarity with basic connected car architecture, including systems integration and in-vehicle services/functions, to enhance triage and troubleshooting capabilities. Experience in drafting and maintaining functional and technical design documents using UML or EA. Proficiency in tools such as Jenkins, JIRA, Eclipse, Git, Bitbucket, and Unix. Understanding of front-end technologies, including web-based and smartphone applications. Knowledge of SSL/TLS certificate technologies is a plus. A solid understanding of networking protocols is beneficial.
