Job Title: Pro CRE Loan Specialist

First Horizon is seeking a highly skilled Pro CRE Loan Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our commercial real estate lending team, you will be responsible for reviewing and understanding real estate loan approvals, providing thorough analysis of construction documentation and funding requirements, and ensuring that loan documents are accurate and compliant with regulatory policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review commercial real estate loan approvals for all deal terms and requirements, ensuring consistency with term sheets, commitment letters, and loan closing documents.
  • Verify standard loan closing documents are complete and accurate according to policies and procedures.
  • Work with bank counsel and line of business to review loan closing checklists and documents received.
  • Request and review bids from third-party construction consultants when required, reviewing and approving up-front and monthly reports as provided.
  • Review and approve all required construction documents, providing comments and forwarding to third-party consultants as required by policy and/or procedures.
  • Interface with lenders, borrowers, attorneys, title companies, general contractors, consultants, and agents to ensure proper documentation is received for loan closings and draw requests.
  • Verify payment instructions provided by title companies, agents, and borrowers.
  • Maintain and update project budgets as approved at closing, tracking changes and ensuring funds are sufficient to complete the project.
  • Approve loan budget changes within established limits or refer loan to RM or SCO for further approval/override as provided by policy.
  • Review and approve draw requests and supporting documents as submitted by borrowers.
  • Provide documentation to loan operations to disburse loan funds within established SLA.
  • Manage disbursement and payment process to and from bank participants, junior lenders, and agents.
  • Provide primary support and partnership to relationship managers and portfolio managers to ensure construction maintains strong quality while facilitating risk control measures for the bank.
  • Work closely with senior management, RMs, PMs, credit risk, compliance, and internal audit partners to ensure credit remains in compliance with bank and regulatory policies.
  • Provide set-up sheets to loan operations to book, maintain, and update loan tracking system with borrower and loan information.
  • Ensure compliance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Manage loan exceptions.
  • Monitor requirements as provided by executed leases and permanent lenders.
  • Maintain working regulatory knowledge regarding flood insurance, general insurance, title issues, mechanics lien law, surveys, and bank loan documentation.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6-8 years of experience as a Pro CRE Loan Specialist or equivalent combination of education and experience in banking, construction, and/or commercial real estate.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
