Educational Support Specialist
who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children.
Schedule:
This position operates Monday through Friday.
Purpose & Impact:
The Educational Support Specialist will assist educators in delivering quality education to all Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) enrolled in the program.
This role involves participation in year-round educational initiatives across four academic skill levels, including English as a Second Language classes.
The Specialist will monitor UAC engagement to ensure each child receives appropriate instruction and support. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with small groups or individual students to facilitate lessons, ensuring a positive educational experience for a diverse student body.
- Support teaching staff in preparing lesson plans, educational materials, and necessary equipment.
- Assist in the transportation and supervision of students as needed.
- Exemplify appropriate behavior and professionalism.
- Adhere to departmental and program deadlines to maintain compliance with reporting requirements. Regular and punctual attendance is essential.
Additional Duties:
- Provide coverage for classrooms and groups as required.
- Assist with training, duplication of materials, and documentation.
- Help maintain the physical environment as assigned.
- Foster positive relationships with families, community members, and funding organizations.
- Adapt to changes productively and perform other essential tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills:
- Ability to comprehend and articulate information effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Capacity to engage with a challenging student demographic.
