Position Overview:
The role of the Transplant Dietitian is to enhance the nutrition care process, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of medical nutrition therapy tailored to their unique needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments: Gather and document relevant patient information to inform nutrition care.
- Formulate nutrition diagnoses: Analyze data to identify nutrition-related issues.
- Implement targeted nutrition interventions: Develop and deliver quality nutrition education that aligns with patient expectations and cultural considerations.
- Monitor and assess nutrition outcomes: Evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions in relation to established goals.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals: Share nutrition expertise with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care.
- Utilize resources efficiently: Ensure effective use of available tools and resources in practice.
- Mentor students: Provide guidance and support to dietetic interns and students.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives: Participate in projects aimed at enhancing departmental practices.
- Work collaboratively with peers: Foster teamwork among dietitians to share knowledge and strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an approved Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics program.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
- Proficiency in computer applications relevant to dietetics.
- Certification as a Dietitian in the state of Utah or willingness to obtain certification within six months.
- Food Handler's Permit may be required for certain responsibilities.
Preferred Attributes:
- At least one year of experience as a registered dietitian.
- Bilingual capabilities are advantageous.
- Certification in Nutrition Support (CNSC) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in ICU and critical care settings is desirable.
Physical Demands:
- Effective communication with patients and healthcare teams.
- Ability to operate computers and related equipment.
- Visual acuity to read documents and monitor screens.
- Capability to remain seated or standing for extended periods while performing job duties.
