The Adjunct Phlebotomy Training Specialist is responsible for delivering educational courses for the Center for Workforce Innovation. This role encompasses a range of subjects, including but not limited to: theoretical knowledge, practical lab skills, and clinical rotations for evening sessions. The instructor will also oversee clinical site visits for students during daytime hours and manage the coordination and facilitation of clinical rotation documentation.

Note: Unofficial copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts should be submitted. Official transcripts will be required prior to the commencement of the position.

Travel Requirements: This role may involve occasional travel between campuses and for training purposes. After-hours commitments may also be necessary.

Teaching Format: This position mandates in-person instruction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Align with the institutional objectives of Central Carolina Community College by actively engaging students in the learning journey, facilitating their progress in the nursing program, and supporting their educational aspirations.
  • Deliver Phlebotomy courses, focusing on both theoretical instruction and practical lab skills.
  • Encourage a positive, collaborative, and supportive atmosphere within the department for all faculty and staff.
  • Stay informed about updates in phlebotomy program regulations and the North Carolina Community College System regarding Continuing Education, adapting courses as necessary to reflect these changes.
  • Continuously assess course objectives, syllabi, competencies, teaching methods, and evaluations to ensure relevance and appropriateness.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with clinical site representatives for student placements and seek new clinical opportunities as needed.
  • Maintain current industry licensure and credentials, including obtaining annual CME/CEUs.
  • Exhibit effective prioritization skills, setting both short-term and long-term goals for the program while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Adhere to departmental policies concerning paperwork, grading, and attendance tracking.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Recognize and honor the diverse experiences and contributions of all students, staff, and community members, fostering an inclusive learning environment that values unique perspectives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Phlebotomist
  • ASCP/ASPT certification
  • Ability to travel to clinical sites for student placements and experiences
Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient venipuncture skills.
  • Detail-oriented team player.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with a willingness to enhance these skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate of Science Degree
  • Experience in teaching and supervising adult learners.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Education in teaching methodologies, curriculum design, and assessment strategies.
