Position Overview

GPI is actively seeking a qualified Structural Project Engineer to join our dynamic team across various locations. The ideal candidate will possess a Professional Engineer certification and have relevant experience with public sector clients in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analyses, evaluations, and designs; create design alternatives supported by calculations.
  • Examine structural documents to identify conflicts across various disciplines.
  • Develop and coordinate plans, specifications, and estimates for bridge and transportation structure projects.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of deliverables produced by junior engineers.
  • Assist in the planning and management of bridge inspection, design, and rehabilitation projects.
  • Engage in reviews with governing agencies to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Lead routine inspections of bridges for state and local agencies.
  • Manage and assess load rating computations for structures owned by state and local entities.
  • Prepare and coordinate design recommendation reports.
  • Oversee and review hydrology and hydraulics analyses related to bridge projects.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering is required (Master's degree is preferred).
  • Professional Engineer licensure is preferred.
  • Experience with MDOT-SHA, MDOT-MDTA, DelDOT, and/or VDOT is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • A positive attitude and a strong work ethic, with a desire to collaborate effectively.
  • NHI #130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges certification is preferred.
  • NHI #130078 Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges certification is preferred.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend plans and instructions in English.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as communication tools like Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
  • Capable of traversing construction sites with uneven terrain.
  • Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment while on site.
  • Able to lift and move equipment or inspection materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
