This role involves assisting in the management and oversight of our credit and collections department, ensuring that business objectives related to trade working capital, Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), and bad debt are achieved while collaborating with colleagues in accounting, sales, and management.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Overseeing company credit and collections initiatives.
- Monitoring, collecting, and forecasting accounts receivable for key accounts and high-risk clients.
- Collaborating with Sales and Operations teams to enhance collection strategies.
- Securing company collection rights by filing necessary bond claims or liens and coordinating with external legal counsel on settlement options.
- Evaluating credit information to assess risk, conducting research, reviewing credit applications, and communicating findings to management.
- Delivering exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate customer account records, including credit information and payment statuses, and reporting to management.
- Establishing and upholding credit practices, policies, and controls.
- Effectively communicating with diverse teams to manage credit risk and aged accounts.
- Adhering to all company policies and safety regulations.
- Following management directives regarding daily tasks and responsibilities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience as a credit analyst with the ability to work autonomously within the Credit and Collections Department.
- Relevant experience with bond claims and lien filings in the construction or materials sector.
- Strong leadership skills, decision-making abilities, organizational skills, and effective communication capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A solid understanding of financial reports and legal documents.
- The ability to address inquiries from customers, regulatory bodies, and business peers.
- A professional demeanor towards colleagues, supervisors, and clients.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Business with a focus on Finance or a comparable combination of education and experience is required, along with:
- Three or more years of progressive experience.
- Advanced Excel skills and significant experience with Microsoft Office.
- Experience in a multi-state business environment, preferably in construction operations.
