Job Summary:

CommuniCare Health Center is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the front and back office, ensuring all medical assistant tasks and duties are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Administer injections, assist with non-invasive and direct patient care procedures, such as EKGs, vision and hearing screenings, and waive testing.
  • Obtain patient medical history, vital signs, and ensure all quality metrics are completed and documented in compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies, immunization, and operating supplies, ensuring all equipment is calibrated, charged, and cleaned.
  • Register patients, update patient information, and perform data entry of demographics and other required information.
  • Verify and activate patient insurance plans, ensuring accurate posting of encounter data and posting to appropriate funding/insurance plans.
  • Prepare for next day clinic by identifying appointment types and chart preparation, updating proof of income, pre-registering patients, and screening patients for program eligibility.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, greeting each customer with an appropriate introduction and addressing concerns prior to end of interaction.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR preferred.
  • Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects.
  • Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Visual: Visual acuity necessary for the proper evaluation of a patient and to prepare or inspect documents or other materials.
  • Physical: Sitting 20-30% of time and standing, walking 70-80% of time.
