Position Overview

League School for Autism is a recognized, year-round institution dedicated to the educational development of children on the autism spectrum. Our collaborative approach fosters a supportive and inclusive environment within our community. We are seeking a FULL-TIME TEACHER ASSISTANT for our program. The starting compensation is $25.40/hour, contingent on experience and educational qualifications, along with a $1,000 SIGN-ON BONUS after a designated period.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree or specialized training in a relevant field or experience with autistic individuals is highly preferred.
  • Experience as a Para-professional, Teacher's Aide, or in special education is advantageous.
  • Certifications in Safety Care, CPR, and First Aid are required (training will be provided).
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Successful completion of comprehensive background checks, including nationwide fingerprint screening, is mandatory.
Supervision Structure:

Reports to the Head Teacher.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Execute lessons and tasks in accordance with Individual Education Programs within classroom and community settings.
  2. Oversee students at community-based job sites and deliver job-coaching services tailored to individual program needs.
  3. Serve as a communication link between community employers and the Vocational Coordinator.
  4. Contribute to the creation of curriculum content, behavior intervention strategies, and daily living skills techniques for individual students.
  5. Gather and document data on student performance in both instructional and behavioral domains.
  6. Establish a therapeutic and effective rapport with students, employing appropriate communication techniques.
  7. Adhere to classroom and school schedules to provide structure and minimize distractions for students.
  8. Implement student behavior programs as designed by the Behavior Department and educational team.
  9. Complete necessary daily documentation, including notes to parents and incident reports.
  10. Monitor student health and safety, collaborating with the School Nurse on incidents requiring medical attention.
  11. Work collaboratively with colleagues, attending meetings and contributing to discussions on issues and solutions.
  12. Engage in all required training sessions provided by League School for Autism.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Education Coordinator or other educational leadership as necessary for school operations.
Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite is essential for this role.
