Laboratory Supervisor

This position is responsible for coordinating and managing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and implementing quality control measures. The Laboratory Supervisor will oversee the work activities of assigned personnel, maintain accurate attendance records, and assist in maintaining the laboratory budget. Additionally, this role will develop and implement new procedures, instrumentation, and techniques, and ensure that all personnel are held accountable through ongoing performance reviews.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day supervision of laboratory testing personnel, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement new procedures, instrumentation, and techniques to improve laboratory operations.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and assist in maintaining the laboratory budget.
- Oversee the work activities of assigned personnel, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Assist in the orientation and development of personnel competencies, ensuring that all personnel are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards as promulgated by state and federal agencies, the hospital, and other regulatory entities.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to meet the standards of regulatory agencies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive performance improvement program.
- Provide input on personnel for hire, fire, transfer, interview, disciplinary probation, etc.
- Perform skills review and competency assessments and maintain appropriate documentation on all technical personnel.
- Oversee and enforce expectations of personnel in assigned section(s).
- Participate in proficiency testing surveys; review and evaluate results and maintain copies of survey records in section(s).
- Coordinate and attend meetings as required to discuss changes and developments regarding policies, equipment, procedures, staffing, etc.
Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from a regionally accredited college/university or Education that has been evaluated by an acceptable credentialing agency and deemed equivalent to a US Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
Five (5) years of experience as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Technician required. Five (5) years of full-time primary experience in the specific section of responsibility required.
Must provide proof of certification or certification eligibility for MT (ASCP), CLS (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), CLS (NCA/ASCP), or MT (AAB).
