About the Position:
Faculty members contribute to the mission of the School of Nursing through innovative education, research, and community service.
Responsibilities:
- Teach across various nursing courses.
- Mentor graduate and doctoral students in their research endeavors.
- Engage in academic and professional service to further the School's mission.
- Participate in faculty governance activities.
- Develop and sustain an independent research program with external funding.
- Produce high-quality, peer-reviewed publications.
- Collaborate across disciplines.
Required Qualifications:
- An earned PhD (or equivalent research doctorate) in nursing or a related field.
- Proven expertise in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Postdoctoral training or relevant academic teaching experience.
- A focused research program with potential for external funding.
- A record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience as a registered nurse in various healthcare settings.
- Experience mentoring nursing students and professionals.
- Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- **Advanced Nursing Practice:** In-depth understanding of nursing theories and practices, including specialized knowledge in specific nursing areas.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in academic teaching as an adjunct or full-time faculty member.
- Background in writing academic research grant proposals.
- Expertise in acute care, medical/surgical, and mental health nursing.
