Job Title: Assistant Professor of Science Communication

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Science Communication to join our team at the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications. The successful candidate will have a strong background in science communication, environmental communication, risk communication, or communication issues surrounding emerging technologies.

About the Position

This is a tenure-track position that includes a reduced teaching load (1-1) and additional summer salary support for the first three years. The faculty member will be based in the STEM Translational Communication Center (STCC), a research center that builds interdisciplinary collaborations between communication researchers and partners in the STEM disciplines.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct original research in science communication, environmental communication, risk communication, or communication issues surrounding emerging technologies
  • Pursue and secure external funding opportunities
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate level courses
  • Advise graduate students
  • Engage in governance and other Department and College service activities
Requirements

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in communication or a related field by their start date. A record of high-quality original research, the ability to work with interdisciplinary teams, and a record of securing extramural funding are highly desirable.
