Position Summary
The Surgical Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and care of patients undergoing surgical procedures. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will assist the surgical team with preparation and execution of surgical tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare for surgical procedures by setting up the operating room according to established protocols and physician preferences.
- Assemble case carts with necessary instruments and equipment for upcoming surgeries.
- Act as the scrub person during surgical operations, maintaining a sterile environment, anticipating the surgeon's needs, and accurately tracking surgical instruments and materials.
- Perform technical tasks as directed, excluding cutting, clamping, and suturing.
- Assist in patient transfers and prepare surgical specimens for laboratory processing.
- Support anesthesiologists and other medical staff in equipment setup and supply acquisition.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program or possess a Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- Certification as a Surgical Technician from an accredited institution or completion of certification within one year of hire.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
