Job Summary

Arcosa Aggregates is seeking a skilled Safety Representative to ensure compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations across our quarries and asphalt plants.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mining safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to implement and manage effective safety programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, implement, and oversee environmental health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities.
  • Conduct studies and investigations to ensure compliance with government safety and health laws, standards, and regulations, as well as industrial hygiene and environmental safety.
  • Investigate accidents, promote safety-conscious work performance, and training programs.
  • Determine root cause analyses.
  • Ensure all operations are compliant with MSHA & OSHA regulations and guidelines, staying updated on changes and communicating relevant information to the team.
  • Develop, implement, and conduct safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, ongoing training, and specialized safety topics related to aggregates operations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of work sites to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols, preparing reports on findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses to identify root causes and develop strategies to prevent future incidents, preparing detailed reports and maintaining incident records.
  • Foster a culture of safety within the organization by promoting safe work practices, encouraging employee participation in safety initiatives, and recognizing safe behaviors.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, conducting drills and ensuring all employees are familiar with emergency procedures.
  • Work closely with management, operations teams, and external agencies to enhance safety performance and achieve safety goals.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, incident reports, and training documentation, preparing and submitting required reports to MSHA and other regulatory agencies.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, paid biweekly, with opportunities for annual performance increases. Additional benefits include a 401k program with employer matching, room for growth and career advancement, health insurance, dental & vision insurance, paid life insurance, paid short-term disability, paid long-term disability, paid vacation and sick time, and 11 paid holidays.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Construction, Mining Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in safety management within the aggregates or mining industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MSHA & OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Proven experience conducting safety training and inspections.
  • Experience with OSHA guidelines regarding asphalt plant operations.
  • Certification in safety (e.g., CSP, CHST) is a plus.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and conduct site inspections.
  • Extensive travel required (up to 75% of working time).
