Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating the work of mechanical engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development and contract document phase. You will assess and design wide ranges of HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial and industrial projects, establish client relations, and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings with regard to mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the work of mechanical engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development and contract document phase.
  • Assess and design wide ranges of HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial and industrial projects.
  • Establish client relations, and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings with regard to mechanical systems.
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Assume the mechanical lead on many projects.

  • Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines.
  • Coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule.

  • Track the financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust the work efforts with the team to ensure that work is completed within the parameters of the agreed-upon schedule.
  • Work with the Project Manager, Regional Controller, and Regional Director for project reviews with corporate management as needed.
  • Review mechanical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
  • Write and edit mechanical specifications, selects equipment, mechanical systems, and devices.
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed.
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators, or Mechanical CAD Technicians as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis. A Professional Engineers license, Mechanical, is also required. 10 years of experience in HVAC and plumbing system design, computer experience utilizing MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software, and previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm are also necessary. Commercial/institutional experience in healthcare is a plus. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
