Muse Concrete Contractors Inc., a leading contractor in Northern California, is seeking a highly skilled Controller to join their management team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial management, with experience in managing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

This is a full-time position that will work closely with the CFO and other senior management to ensure the overall financial health of the organization.

The successful candidate will have excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed asset accounting, and cash management.
  • Prepare and present financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Coordinate the year-end process for reviewed financial statements; work closely with CPA and staff to ensure accurate information.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.
  • Process weekly payroll and all related reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and procedures.
  • Provide support to project managers and the operations team on financial matters related to construction projects.
  • Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Train, mentor, and manage office staff.

Compensation and Benefits:

Muse Concrete Contractors Inc. offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $80,000- $110,000 per year, health/dental/vision insurance, 401K retirement plan with company profit-sharing, paid sick time, holidays, and vacation time, and a yearly bonus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Must have work experience showing consistent long-term performance, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with Sage construction accounting software is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of prevailing wage projects and state/federal requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
