Hours: Friday through Monday (10 hours) 2 PM - 12:30 AM

Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively communicates with patients to gather clinical history and informed consent, assisting physicians in optimizing examination performance and interpretation. Clearly explains procedures to patients and families, addressing any concerns to alleviate anxiety and ensure cooperation.
  • Assists physicians in conducting a variety of examinations following standard departmental protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques.
  • Applies knowledge of IVs, heparin locks, and central line usage as they relate to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
  • Ensures patient safety within the department through the use of side rails, braking mechanisms, and patient monitoring. Reports, documents, and rectifies any adverse, unsafe, or unusual conditions.
Qualifications
  • Certification - Must possess American Registered Radiologic Technologists certification, or ARMRIT or CAMRT -CNMT certification in lieu of ARRT upon hire. MRI certification must be obtained within 18 months of employment; ARRT registered in radiography or ARMIT, or CAMRT certification is required within 18 months of accepting the position; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.
  • Licensure - Licensed Radiologic Technologist required within 12 months for all INOVA non-Hospital Licensed centers; not required if working onsite at an Inova Hospital.
  • Experience - No prior experience required.
  • Education - Graduate of an accredited radiography program or MRI certification from ARMRIT or CAMRT, or a graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program with MRI training (must be MRI Registry eligible through ARRT).
