Job Opportunity

Newman Plastic Surgery is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals in delivering the highest level of clinical care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and clinical personnel with patient care activities, including in-office procedures, injections, and phlebotomy.
  • Deliver quality customer service and maintain established quality control standards.
  • Systematically greet, room, and chaperone patients/families promptly and with courtesy during the medical visit.
  • Verify medications and allergies, take vitals, and record patient information.
  • Document/Chart accurately and promptly in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Scribe for provider and assist with procedures.
  • Record patient care documentation in the medical record accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist providers with procedures specific to that specialty, including suturing, suture removal, sterile procedures, equipment preparation, and minor surgical procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients to allay apprehension and gain cooperation. Have patient sign consent forms.
  • Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians, company standards, and policies.
  • Process appropriate documents in an organized and accurate fashion.
  • Respect patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Organize exam and treatment rooms, stock and clean rooms, and sterilize instruments.
  • Maintain quality control standards and required certifications.
  • Must be able to work independently in providing safe, accurate, and clinically competent care to patients.
  • Assist with clerical activities related to appointment scheduling, patient intake, including data verification, and clinic communications for any referrals.
  • Answer telephone and messages in a timely manner within 24 hours.
  • Adhere at all times to general and clinic guidelines in Universal Precautions, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Occupational Safety and Health administration (OSHA).

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or registration required or the ability to obtain the designation within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to use MS Office package or similar programs.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • ICD-9 and CPT coding experience.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Computer Competency and ability to effectively navigate software programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work well with others with a positive attitude and eager to learn.
  • Dexterity and visual acuity necessary to remove fine sutures.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Experience in dermatology or plastic surgery.
  • Understanding of Social Media.
  • Experience in Marketing and Sales.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) language proficiency.
