Position Overview:
Oversees the daily operations of 24-hour healthcare departments dedicated to delivering patient care services. Ensures that the team provides high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective care while maintaining a patient-centered approach that adheres to local, state, and federal regulations. Responsible for developing and upholding clinical care standards and managing all aspects of resource allocation and budgeting. Acts as the primary manager in the Emergency Department, supervising approximately 20-30 staff members.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Directs the operations of 24-hour healthcare departments, potentially across multiple sites. Ensures that nursing assistants and staff deliver optimal care in compliance with the Nursing Practice Act and relevant regulatory bodies.
  2. Establishes, implements, and maintains care and service standards that align with the expectations of patients and internal stakeholders.
  3. Designs and assesses processes aimed at enhancing systems and patient care outcomes throughout the care continuum.
  4. Develops and oversees budgets to ensure the effective use of human and material resources. Monitors financial performance and identifies strategies to reduce costs while enhancing care quality.
  5. Determines the appropriate staffing levels for the department and develops processes for recruitment, training, and maintaining staff competency. Ensures continuous professional development for all team members.
  6. Creates, implements, and monitors departmental policies and procedures that support organizational goals and objectives.
  7. Leads the development of care standards and practices, manages fiscal responsibilities, and drives quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of four (4) years of clinical nursing experience in the relevant specialty area, including four (4) years in a management or leadership role.
  2. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing.
  3. Active Registered Nurse License (California) required upon hire.
  4. Basic Life Support certification.
  5. ACLS or PALS certification may be necessary for specific departmental roles.
  6. National Certification preferred within one year of employment.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
