A Potbelly Associate plays a crucial role in enhancing our customers' lunch experience. As the primary point of contact, it is essential to deliver outstanding service by providing quick, friendly, and efficient assistance while ensuring a high-quality and consistent product in a clean and inviting setting.

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment – knife skills are advantageous

  • Comfortable with higher noise levels from music and customer interactions
  • Ability to manage potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish
  • Capable of standing or walking for a minimum of 3 hours or as required
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Illinois Applicants - all IL employees must obtain food safety certification within 30 days of employment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate multiple stations (loading, dressing, shakes, cash, prep, front) as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations for food, cleanliness, and safety
  • Restock food lines, chips, and coolers
  • Efficiently prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, etc.)
  • If 18 or older, utilize the automatic slicer for food preparation
  • Maintain cleanliness by cleaning tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen, and utensils; dispose of trash
  • Operate cash register: manage, balance, and follow all cash handling protocols
  • Effectively address customer complaints and issues
  • Take delivery/catering/pickup orders over the phone
  • Perform other duties as assigned
