Orthopedic and Neurological Care Nurse
Position Overview
As a vital member of our nursing team at Catholic Health Initiatives, you will provide exceptional care to patients recovering from orthopedic and neurological surgeries. Your role will involve establishing a trusting relationship with patients and their families by proactively addressing their needs, closely monitoring their progress, and actively listening to their concerns. While you may have extensive experience in surgical care, for many patients, this will be their first encounter with such procedures.
Your effectiveness in this position will stem from your ability to collaborate seamlessly with both the surgical and nursing teams, ensuring clear communication while being attuned to the emotional and informational requirements of each patient. Previous experience in an orthopedic unit is not a prerequisite for success in this role; however, a genuine passion for helping others is essential. We are committed to providing you with comprehensive training, making this an ideal opportunity to kickstart your nursing career.
Catholic Health Initiatives operates a 600-bed, faith-based, non-profit acute care facility dedicated to delivering high-quality healthcare services to diverse communities. Our facility serves as a level II trauma center and a regional referral hub for various specialties, including cardiology, trauma, behavioral health, cancer care, and neurosciences. Consistently recognized by leading health publications for excellence in multiple areas, we pride ourselves on our commitment to quality patient care.
If you are dedicated to promoting social justice and health equity, and are eager to explore innovative approaches to patient care, we invite you to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comfort and reassurance to patients who may feel anxious or disoriented post-surgery, fostering a safe and calming environment for their recovery.
- Manage a dynamic workload while maintaining a keen focus on patient details across a busy unit.
- Assist in welcoming new patients and ensuring they receive the necessary medications to manage postoperative discomfort.
- Effectively communicate home care instructions and hospital care details to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with a dedicated team of nurses who share your commitment to patient well-being.
Incentives
We are pleased to offer a sign-on bonus of up to $25,000 for eligible hires. Additional compensation is available for participation in our clinical ladder program, along with referral bonuses, comprehensive benefits, tuition reimbursement, and relocation assistance.
Qualifications
- A valid and unrestricted nursing license in the State of Arkansas.
- A minimum of 6 months of acute care experience is required (new graduates or nurses without prior acute care experience may be considered through our residency training program).
- Prior experience in orthopedic or neurological nursing is preferred but not mandatory.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
While you focus on making a positive impact in the healthcare sector, we will support you with a robust benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision coverage, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans with matching contributions, paid time off, adoption assistance, and more.
Compensation
$42.73 per hour
We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
