Position Overview:
Classification Title: Rangeland Ecology Assistant Professor
Tenure Track: Yes
Salary Range: $74,000 - $78,000 annually, based on experience, education, and qualifications.

General Overview:
Rangeland ecosystems cover a significant portion of Montana's landscape, offering essential ecosystem services such as clean air, clean water, scenic vistas, open spaces, and diverse wildlife.

Key Responsibilities:
The role encompasses:
- 45% Academic Teaching
- 45% Research and Scholarship
- 10% Service

The successful candidate will be tasked with developing and implementing nationally recognized teaching and research initiatives in rangeland ecology and management, focusing on areas such as riparian systems, prescribed and/or wildland fire, and grazing management.

On-campus teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses in subjects such as Fire Ecology & Management, Riparian Ecology and Management, Wildlife & Livestock Habitat Restoration, and Grazing Ecology and Management.

As a tenure-track faculty member, the successful candidate is expected to engage in departmental activities, publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals, secure external funding, mentor graduate students, and contribute to educational efforts.

Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Rangeland Ecology and Management or a related field (must be obtained by the time of hire).
- Proven record of research and publication in Natural Resources or Rangeland Ecology and Management.
- Demonstrated ability or potential for securing external and competitive funding.
- Proven or high potential for effective teaching at the college or university level.
- Ability to mentor a diverse student population, including women and minorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Research and publication experience in riparian ecology, fire ecology, or grazing ecology.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary research.
- Proven or high potential to work effectively with local, state, and federal natural resources and rangeland stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate research findings to non-scientific audiences.

Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions.
