Role Summary

Under general supervision, the Medical Technologist will conduct both quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests on patient samples in accordance with established laboratory protocols.

  • Analyze test outcomes and prepare specimens for examination.
  • Calculate findings and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare and validate solutions, reagents, and various materials used in testing.

The role involves processing and testing various laboratory specimens, reviewing and reporting results, performing maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment, and serving as a resource for other laboratory staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or completion of an accredited medical technology program, or equivalent military training.
  • Preferred experience of 6 months to 1 year in a medical laboratory setting within an acute care environment.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT, or CSMLS) within 12 months of hire.

  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting test results.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for collaboration with healthcare professionals.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for operating laboratory equipment.
  • Attention to detail for closely examining specimens.
