Role Summary:
A Physical Therapist (PT) plays a crucial role in aiding patients to regain functionality, enhance mobility, alleviate pain, and prevent or minimize permanent physical disabilities resulting from injuries or illnesses. The PT collaborates closely with patients to create tailored rehabilitation programs aimed at improving their overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Evaluation:
    • Perform comprehensive physical assessments to accurately diagnose the patient's condition.
    • Examine patient medical histories and any relevant documentation from healthcare providers.
  2. Individualized Treatment Planning:
    • Formulate customized treatment strategies based on patient assessments and diagnoses.
    • Establish realistic and attainable recovery goals along with a timeline for progress.
  3. Therapeutic Techniques:
    • Implement various methods including exercises, stretching, manual therapy, and specialized equipment to alleviate pain and enhance mobility.
    • Provide education and guidance on exercises, techniques, and lifestyle modifications to support recovery and prevent future injuries.
  4. Patient and Family Education:
    • Inform patients and their families about the recovery process and home care strategies.
    • Encourage adherence to treatment plans and foster a positive outlook towards recovery.
  5. Monitoring and Adjustments:
    • Continuously assess and document patient progress.
    • Modify treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal recovery outcomes.
  6. Collaboration:
    • Engage with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists, to provide comprehensive patient care.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions.
  7. Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Maintain precise patient records, documenting treatment details and progress.
    • Adhere to all relevant regulations and policies regarding patient care and documentation.
  8. Professional Development:
    • Stay informed about the latest advancements and techniques in physical therapy.
    • Engage in ongoing professional development through workshops and conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Valid state license to practice physical therapy, along with a Driver's License and CPR Certification.
  • Experience: Previous clinical experience through internships or prior roles is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
    • Demonstrated empathy and patience.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Physical stamina to assist patients and demonstrate therapeutic exercises.

Work Environment:

  • Settings: Home Care
  • Hours: Typically full-time, part-time, or contract with potential evening or weekend hours based on patient needs.

Compensation:

  • Up to $75.00 per hour
