The UNIX systems administrator will be responsible for implementing security enhancements, managing user accounts, overseeing website administration, performing data backups and restorations, auditing system resource access, and collaborating with various teams to address requirements and resolve issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a system administrator for non-Windows operating systems (MAC, UNIX, LINUX), demonstrating the ability to load, configure, and sustain current network operating system functionalities; deploy and install servers, configure customer software, and connect client workstations to networks and shared devices.
- Plan for the backup and recovery of database information, ensuring the maintenance of archived data and the execution of database backups and restorations.
- Engage with multiple vendors for technical support, utilizing IT resources while adhering to relevant IT policies and procedures.
- Adhere to established standard operating procedures while providing updates and enhancements as necessary.
- Contribute technical insights for the planning and coordination of the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT hardware and software systems, working collaboratively to manage IT resources for optimal performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
- Utilize system administration expertise to plan, install, configure, and maintain a diverse range of products and services, including DNS services, authentication services, system logging, and file servers.
- Offer administrative, technical, and planning support for cloud-based services.
- Ensure compliance with IT security directives, policies, and mandates, monitoring the information system accordingly.
- Collaborate directly with the Information System Security Officer and System Owner to gather and interpret necessary information for documentation and reporting on the information system.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in RedHat / CentOS Linux 7 & 8; Oracle Linux 9; Ubuntu; SELinux; and various Linux security tools and methodologies.
- Fluent in bash and perl scripting.
- Familiar with rsyslog, sendmail, postfix, ssh, sudo, sftp, X11, and similar tools.
- Experience with installing, operating, and patching Veritas Netbackup version 10 or higher.
- Comprehensive understanding of Docker, Tomcat, and HTTPD configuration, setup, and support, including installation and support of Tomcat-hosted applications (WAR files).
- Knowledgeable in Oracle Enterprise Database 19c and database gateway installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and patching.
- Familiar with Oracle APEX / ORDS server-side version 23+ installation under Tomcat, including configuration, troubleshooting, and patching.
- Capable of building and supporting Linux hosts as virtual machines on VMware hypervisors.
- Able to support GitLab, SubVersion, MySQL, R-server, and AIDE services, along with various client tools such as Nessus, BigFix, FireEye, etc.
- Willingness to occasionally work PST or HST hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as an Oracle DBA.
