ROLE OVERVIEW

Becker Wright Consultants, a comprehensive architecture, engineering, and interior design firm, is in search of a proactive Controller. This role is pivotal in leading and managing our accounting department, providing essential financial support to firm leadership and various departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and manage the Accounts Payable/Receivable team, ensuring proper training and development.
  • Guarantee timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes, delivering comprehensive analyses of financial results to management.
  • Assist in the formulation of departmental budgets and conduct variance analyses.
  • Generate reports that summarize and project business activities and financial standings.
  • Manage cash flow, including the review of weekly cash requirements and oversight of payables.
  • Administer banking operations and general account management.
  • Oversee payroll processing, including all associated payments and tax filings.
  • Conduct project reporting and financial analysis as necessary.
  • Compile information for corporate tax returns and other regulatory filings.
  • Review and renew business insurance policies.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and control.
  • Provide general accounting support to leadership and other departments.
  • Perform ad hoc financial reporting and analysis as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with the following qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including GL, AR, AP, and project accounting.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial software.
  • Experience with project accounting is preferred.
  • CPA designation is a plus.
  • Experience in professional services accounting is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Deltek VantagePoint software is beneficial.
