Diesel Technician Role at US Foods, Inc.

The Diesel Technician position involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of road equipment such as tractors and trailers. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with trucking regulations, maintaining accurate maintenance logs, and performing road rescue as needed. This role requires a strong understanding of diesel mechanics, with an emphasis on safety and efficient work practices.

As a Heavy Equipment Repair Specialist, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing issues with diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, and other heavy machinery. You will also perform preventative maintenance tasks within company standards, document all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability, and handle road service calls as required.

To succeed in this role, you must have a solid foundation in commercial diesel mechanics or reefer experience, with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex problems. Experience with technical service manuals and the ability to read and understand technical documentation are essential. Additionally, excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment are critical.

Key Requirements
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.)
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks within company standards
  • Document all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability
  • Handle road service calls; perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of assigned repairs using the Shop Fax system
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations
