Position: Commercial & Industrial Electrical Estimator
Salary: Commensurate with Experience
We are seeking a skilled electrical estimator to assess the approximate costs associated with various electrical installations in both industrial and commercial sectors. The primary responsibilities of the electrical estimator include:
- Evaluating the duration of each contracting job.
- Researching current market prices for materials and equipment necessary for projects.
- Engaging with clients to clarify the scope and requirements of each project.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance cost-estimating processes to minimize discrepancies between estimated and actual project expenses.
To excel in this role, candidates should possess a keen attention to detail and a solid understanding of electrical codes. An outstanding Electrical Estimator will be proficient in interpreting building plans and exhibit exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed estimates and proposals for commercial and industrial electrical projects.
- Assess labor and material costs to determine the feasibility of constructing electrical components in-house versus subcontracting.
- Regularly update cost databases to reflect changing material and labor costs accurately.
- Analyze blueprints to ascertain project requirements.
- Calculate the quantity, type, and cost of materials and fixtures necessary for each electrical undertaking.
- Estimate the labor needed to complete each project efficiently.
- Evaluate the potential profitability of electrical projects to aid management in strategic decision-making.
- Provide actionable solutions to enhance project profitability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, mathematics, science, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to interpret blueprints effectively.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as EBM & Accubid.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service orientation.
- Detail-oriented mindset.
- Certification from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) International is a plus.
- A valid electrician's license is beneficial but not mandatory.
