About the Role

FM Global is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Engineer II to join our team in Western Michigan. As a Consultant Engineer, you will play a critical role in identifying property hazards and delivering practical solutions to minimize or eliminate risks at insured client facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify property hazards, such as fire, explosion, and natural catastrophe hazards, and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate key risks and priorities to clients, supporting informed decision-making and risk management.
  • Apply consistent risk assessment and mitigation guidance, leveraging FM Property Loss Prevention Data Sheets and company procedures.
  • Prepare technical engineering reports, documenting conclusions and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with various departments to develop and implement risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (various disciplines considered); a chemical engineering background is a plus.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in heavy industry, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on understanding of chemical and mechanical production processes, including flammable/combustible materials, heat transfer fluid systems, steam systems, and dust collection systems.
  • Experience in process safety practices and safety devices; familiarity with sprinkler protection is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites.
