Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at GPAC, a leading search firm specializing in placing quality professionals within multiple industries across the United States.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Repair and maintain all equipment, both rented and owned, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Input equipment repairs via work orders and related web-based software tools to track and manage maintenance activities.
  • Lead by example in terms of safety, work ethic, and effective communication with field employees, including supervision levels.
  • Collaborate with other mechanics to improve internal processes and share knowledge to enhance overall efficiency.
  • Servicing of equipment on various job sites to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems independently on out-of-town job sites to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Adhere to and uphold all required safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Recognize and correct safety hazards to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Diagnose and make repairs related to welding and cutting to maintain equipment integrity.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and keep company records and complete work orders on equipment in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • High level of understanding within diesel, hydraulics, and electrical related applications to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment issues.
  • Ability to work with diagrams, schematics, and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve equipment problems.
  • Working knowledge of heavy equipment, including cranes, excavators, concrete pumps, and foundation drilling rigs, to perform routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Welding experience is a plus to enhance equipment repair capabilities.
  • Valid driver's license to operate company vehicles and travel to job sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to perform physical tasks and maintain equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required to demonstrate basic education and training.
